The increase of progesterone in your body during pregnancy is one of the culprits to causing constipation. This hormone relaxes the muscles which include your intestines, causing your digestion to slow down. Hence, causing a Poop-Jam. You will usually start feeling constipated during the second month of your pregnancy when the progesterone levels start to increase. It could gradually get worse as your uterus becomes bigger. You might also experience hemorrhoids due to constipation. Seek doctor’s advice if there is pain or bleeding. Other than that, eat more fiber, drinks lots of water, do not control your bowel movement, take in more probiotics such as yogurt. Gestational Diabetes develops during pregnancy. Like other types of diabetes, it causes blood sugar to increase to high levels. Glucose is absorbed into the bloodstream so that it can fuel the cells and get converted into energy with the help of insulin. However, when your body does not produce enough insulin, the cells have a problem absorbing the glucose. Resulting in gestational diabetes. Women who are above 25 years old and have a family history of diabetes can be at risk. There is no way to know if you will get gestational diabetes. That is why during your prenatal checkups, your doctor would ask you to do an oral glucose tolerance test early in your pregnancy. Gestational diabetes can be dangerous to you and your baby if left undiagnosed. It can be kept under control with healthy and balanced eating habits and pregnancy-friendly exercise. Talk to your doctor if you have any doubts.
